Michael

Graphic Designer

A graduate of the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD), Michael believes wholeheartedly in the power of design for a worthy cause. Michael worked in-house for a local eco-friendly e-commerce jewelry retailer and then a nationally growing HIV healthcare non-profit in-house before joining WaterStreet’s design team.

While not at work, Michael loves hitting the road with his trusty iPhone 11 and some lens attachments, capturing everything in his path and printing the shots up as digital photography artworks, showing in local businesses, galleries and at markets.

Favorite Milwaukee Festival:

Polish Fest! My mother’s side is Polish and I grew up going to Polish Fest every year with family. If my Grandma asked you to Polka, then you danced the Polka with Grandma. Couldn’t say “No” to Grandma. BTW, when the Dill Pickle Soup truck is there, give the soup a try. Trust me! It’s to die for.

What was your first job:

My first job was paper route delivery for a newspaper out of Burlington called Hi-Liter Wisconsin. I was 13 when I started the job. There were two sections that needed to get tucked into one another and then the ad sheets were tucked inside those two sections, and the paper was bagged. My parents would assist with picking up the paper bundles, tucking the sections, and then bagging the weekly paper out of the back of their van. I would walk the route, carrying a huge sack full of papers, winding up and down the streets to deliver the papers, meeting my parents at designated route points to pick up more papers, and keep on with delivery. Rain or shine, winter or summer, it kept me out of trouble.
